Crafted for discerning clients in a historic 1920s Auckland villa, this bespoke kitchen design by Lara Farmilo Design seamlessly blends functionality, luxury, and timeless elegance. Designed as the heart of the home, the kitchen features a central island where the sink and hob are thoughtfully positioned, allowing the homeowners to prepare meals while enjoying views of their lush garden and pool. This layout ensures they can entertain guests without ever turning their back, creating a sociable and inviting space.
To address the villa’s limited storage, the wall behind the kitchen was transformed into a masterful storage solution, housing everything from appliances, pantry essentials, crockery, and linens to AV equipment. The entire kitchen is handleless, including the refrigeration, for a sleek, modern aesthetic. A hidden bar area, concealed by two pocket doors, adds a touch of sophistication, while electric push-to-open mechanisms ensure effortless access to the Liebherr integrated fridge and freezer units, complete with an ice-making facility.
Engineered with German precision, this kitchen features timber cutlery inserts, electrically opened drawers, and pull-out systems for unparalleled access to every corner. The expansive island includes a spacious eating bench for the children, maintaining an uncluttered appearance despite its multi-functionality. Innovative features include a built-in downdraft ventilation system within the hob, a Zenith mixer delivering hot, cold, boiled, and sparkling water, and an EVOline Back-flip unit providing power and USB charging.
The finishes elevate the kitchen’s sense of space and grandeur. White satin silky lacquer on the tall units accentuates the villa’s high ceilings while maximising storage. Recessed LED strip lighting beneath the breakfast bar creates warm ambient lighting for evenings, while LED task lighting in the bar area ensures functionality during prep.
